Since the end of the regular season, DT Gerald McCoy has been sending out various messages across social media signaling a change is coming. The series of cryptic tweets and Instagram postings leaves it all but certain that the former All-Pro defensive tackle will be playing for another team come next season. He posted to Instagram and Twitter today saying:
For the past 9 season McCoy has been a center piece and sometimes lone bright spot on a defense that consistently struggled to produce. Over 9 seasons he has collected 54.5 sacks, 296 combined tackles, 79 tackles for a loss.
It remains to be seen for the aging but product DT will stick with the team while he is due to make $13M next season. None of which is guaranteed. That leaves room for Tampa Bay to release him with no cap hit if they choose to do so. No moves though are likely to be made until the start of the league new year. Until then, we wait.
