What’s at stake?
Jameis Winston knows how important 2019 will be for him. He’s playing for a new Head Coach, and for a new offensive coordinator. Most importantly he’s playing for a new contract. As Winston is currently playing under a 5th year option worth a cool $20.9 million.
That’s still a lot of coin just to find out if this is indefinitely our franchise guy. Still, Winston will remain under that fifth year option until his play tells otherwise. While he has a cannon for an arm and makes plays that will literally leave your jaw dropped, inconsistencies and turnovers have plagued the former first overall pick.
Now, replace former Head Coach Koetter with a proven head coach in Bruce Arians. Which is an instant upgrade at the coaching position to go along with a shiny resume. He’s done it with Roethlisberger. He did it with Luck his rookie year. He even managed to get every last bit of Palmer in Arizona. Arians is the right man for Winston, and the right coach for Tampa. Winston’s play should follow suit.
Predictions: 4,350 yards 34 TD’s 17 INT
Winston will flourish and take a big step forward in his first year in Arians offense. He will finally crack 30 passing TD’s on his way to setting a personal best in passing yards as well. When it’s all said and done, look for Winston to be a fringe Pro Bowl QB with at the very least a strong candidate as an alternate.
