Officials on Buccaneers’ Tryon Penalty: “Good Play’

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for their second preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. But before we move on from the Bengals game we need to address the horrendous penalty called against rookie OLB Joe Tryon.

Tryon was penalized for a personal foul after a hit on Cincinnati’s quarterback. The call was disputed by Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, so much so that Arians called a timeout to continue berating the officials.

The Buccaneers dropped their latest episode of “The Current” Wednesday, turns out not only was Arians right, but the officials stated immediately that they may have got the call wrong.

In a happy coincidence, Tryon was mic’d up for the game. That mic allowed us to hear one official say “good play”, then going on to say, “I think we may have screwed that up, all right?” The call robbed Tryon of his first NFL sack, albeit in preseason.
