Buccaneers Closing in on Signing Gronkowski

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the midst of a busy offseason. With Tom Brady returning there has been a ripple effect to follow. Shortly thereafter the team re-signed Ryan Jensen (C), add that with franchise tagging Chris Godwin (WR) and re-signing Carlton Davis (CB) and you have the beginnings of a great offseason. But we all know they’re not done.

Tuesday the Buccaneers traded for guard Shaq Mason (G) from the Patriots and signed Russell Gage (WR) from the Falcons. Another great day of acquisitions. Again, we know they’re not done.

Did I mention Brady decided to come back? That can only mean there’s a certain tight end out there that the Buccaneers will be looking at, Rob Gronkowski. Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Gronkowski may be heading back to the Bucs.

“There’s a feeling in Tampa that if Tom Brady just gives a call to his old buddy Gronk, maybe that’s all that needs to be done to get him back,” Wolfe stated. “…He’s still enjoying that Tampa Bay life. And he was very productive last year. So, if he’s heathy and feeling good to go, then Gronk back in Tampa seems like the likely option. I’ve been told if Gronk decides he wants to come back, they would make it work salary cap wise,” Wolfe went on,. “That would not be a prohibitive factor in bringing somebody like Gronk back.”

I think we all know a simple call from Brady gets Gronk back in the fold. Look for a deal sooner than later.
