Buccaneers Rachaad White: “I Want to Be the Starting Running Back”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted running back Rachaad White in the third-round of this year’s NFL draft. White is the pass-catching back the Buccaneers desperately needed.

We all appreciate rookies that come into the league with confidence and goals. There’s no better motivator than yourself.

White recently appeared on The Jim Rome Show and talked about not only learning from the veterans, but aiming to take their job.

“My expectation, my goal is I’m going in there competing,” White stated. “I want to be the starting running back. That’s how it go. I know I got Lenny in front of me. And you know I’m going to soak up a lot of knowledge from Lenny in that running backs room. and Giovani Bernard. That’s just the type of guy I am. You know, I’m always a competitor first.”

The Buccaneers now have a legitimate stable of running backs heading into the 2022 NFL season. White definitely has his work cut-out for him. I don’t see him having much trouble passing Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the depth chart. However, I do think supplanting Leonard Fournette or even Giovani Bernard is going to be hard. But it’s good to see a rookie with high expectations, just like the fanbase has for this team.
