Mike Glennon: More than just a backup QB

Mike Glennon will be an unrestricted free agent next season, and for a time, he was trade bait. But, Mike will remain a Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB and Mike Bajakian is ear to ear with grins that Glennon will not be going anywhere, yet. “I think the world of Mike, and I’ve said that since Day One. He is an unbelievable professional. He’s unbelievably talented.  Mike can definitely start for a lot of teams in this league. Not just start, but start and have very good success. I truly believe that. I’m excited to have him, because if anything happens to Jameis, I feel we have a guy who can come in and execute at a very, very high level.”

Glennon hasn’t taken a snap since 2014 but has thrown for 4,025 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 15 ints, in his limited two seasons of play. Bajakian has made it perfectly clear that Glennon’s value is not just as an insurance policy, but also as a presence in the QB room. “He’s been phenomenal in the meeting room, helping Jameis adjust to being a pro, to the mental preparation that’s involved on a week-to-week basis. Mike’s been around the block. He’s been a part of several different offenses. He’s very intelligent and I’m excited to have him on this team.”

Everyone wanted to trade Glennon calling him a dime a dozen and a career backup, but the simple fact is, he is more than just a backup, he is an asset.
