There’s a new kicker in town, and Travis Coons better watch out.
Browns brought in four players for tryouts during minicamp recently, and now that the three-day minicamp has ended, one of those players remained. Browns Signed kicker Pattrick Murray, and it is not all that surprising to see the team sign Murray. The Browns tried out a bunch of young kickers, but only one was enough to compete with their current kicker , Travis Coons. Murray was impressive in 2014 for Tampa, as he was 20-of-24, including 5-of-6 from beyond 50. He was also perfect on extra points. He suffered an injury during training camp in 2015 and was placed on the injury reserve. The rest is history. Murray has a strong leg, and will be serious competition for Travis Coons, and if Murray is healthy he will be an instant upgrade over Coons.
