Bucs GM Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter said during the Combine on Wednesday that they do not have to make a decision regarding Doug Martin right now. The Buccaneers have been keeping tabs on Martin as his well-being is important to them.
Martin remains under contract, so there is no rush in deciding anything about Martin’s future right away. However, the running backs position remains high on the Buccaneers list of priorities.
Doug Martin’s 2016 performance was a mere shadow of the previous season and that can be attributed to injuries. Martin’s $35 million contract for five seasons, came after his outstanding 2015 season in which he rushed for 1,402 yards placing him second in the NFL that year.
Martin testing positive for PED and being suspended allows Tampa to void all the guaranteed money on his contract.
