Finally! Sweezy is able to show us why he was signed to a 5-year $32.5 million contract with $12 million guaranteed. The contract he received from Tampa in 2016 places Sweezy as one of the highest paid guards in the league and is the highest free agent deal Tampa handed out last year.
Koetter stated that Sweezy was cleared last year after the final game of the season and is back to preparing for the upcoming season.
Sweezy missed last season with herniated disc, and unfortunately, it had taken longer than expected to heal. Jason Licht is excited to have Sweezy back and along with coach Koetter, hopes that his return will help to make the Bucs a better football team. Especially, in the run game.
Sweezy had only missed a handful of games in his previous four seasons with the Seahawks, and during his time there, was a major part of “Beast Mode’s” running game. Both Koetter and Licht believes that he will be a big part of our running game, regardless of who is in the backfield.
