Ryan Fitzpatrick was signed to compete with Ryan Griffin and Sean Renfree for the backup QB position but that is not going to be the case. Renfree was ousted in order to make room for Fitzpatrick and it seems that the Buccaneers are not interested in a competition between Griffin and Fitz. Fitz will immediately take on the role as the number two guy.
Many argue the reasoning behind the signing of Fitzpatrick, however, his 12 years of NFL experience and his experience playing for six different NFL teams, the majority of them in the AFC division, makes him an attractive addition for the upcoming season. Fitz believes that coming to Tampa is a great opportunity for him as he can provide valuable veteran experience with the third year quarterback, Jameis Winston, and be a solid backup if needed.
Fitz also believes that there are a lot of solid pieces in place on this football team, especially on the offense, and he is excited to be a part of this Buccaneers football team, believing he will fit right in.
