Kendell Beckwith Will Not Play in 2018

It was announced by Coach Koetter this week that Bucs linebacker Kendell Beckwith was added to the injured reserve list and will not play in 2018. He is making progress to return in the future.

“Kendell made progress and he worked his tail off to get back. I don’t think people can appreciate how serious of a surgery he had,” said Koetter.

Beckwith spent the first half of the 2018 season on the reserve/non-football injury list after an off-season car accident left him with a broken ankle. He underwent surgery and became eligible to practice with the team on October 21. That date opened a 21-day timeline where he wouldn’t count against the 53-man roster so the team could decide whether or not he had recovered enough to return. And while he practiced well and was almost at 100 percent, he failed to regain full flexibility in his ankle, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine. You can read her full article here.

“It’s gonna go how it’s gonna go. That’s out of my control,” said Kendell. “All I can do is keep working and keep doing what I know to do to get back healthy.”
